Essentially, a solar system is considered to have paid for itself when your energy savings total the same amount as your upfront installation costs. Therefore, how much you save depends on how much energy you use and when you use it.

For example, let’s say your solar system costs you $5,000. If you save $1,000 on electricity bills yearly, the system pays for itself in five years. Most solar system installations can be completed within a day.
