Bendigo Bank Central
Project's Overview
In one of the largest installations in the City of Greater Bendigo, Tindo installed a 200kw system at Bendigo Bank’s flagship multi-level premise – The Bendigo Centre, the first regionally-based 5-Star energy rated building in Australia
The installation forms part of the Bendigo Bank’s stated commitment to purchase 100 percent renewable energy by 2025 and reduce absolute emissions by 50 percent by 2030. The Bank was also certified carbon neutral in 2021 for its operations from financial year 2019/20.
Solution
The installation was met with considerable design limiting challenges, ranging from the buildings 11 different roof aspects through to restrictive access requirements and existing solar system used to power it’s hot water system.
Tindo devised a solution to maximise the output of the available area by installing 2 x 99.9kW solar systems coupled with of 2 x SE100K managers and 311 x P801 Optimisers. Reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions by over 15% per cent by producing 257 megawatt hours of energy each year.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Managing Director, Marnie Baker, said the installation is an important addition to the unique and long-standing green credentials of the iconic Bendigo landmark, the first 5 Star Green Star building in regional Australia.
“Building the Bendigo Centre for efficiency, and subsequently making improvements by installing these solar panels, is an example of our long-term commitment to sustainability, reducing our carbon and environmental footprint, improving our resilience, and better understanding the dependencies we have on the natural environment” Ms Baker said.
